releases DIALOGUE ONE This is the first split work between UNDER THE SNOW and various artists/friends. Nearly an hour of suggestive "border" music, equally divided between the relaxing and ambient atmospheres contaminated with experimental elements created by Enrico Coniglio, and the low-fi/rough sounds and atmospheres crafted by Under the Snow (Stefano Gentile and Gianluca Favaron) - not so different but with a more dramatic, tense and hypnotic doom - built on deep drones stratifications, often hard and cutting, with a wide collection of noises, electronic hassles, ununderstandable wispherings, concrete moments... A perfect join-venture, a mix among two different music projects that gather coherence and inspiration to "sustain" a split album that showcases a not to be missed fusion of styles among the involved artists, oriented on parallel patterns, clearly increasing the value of their own personal and somehow different sonic directions. SALICORNIE - topofonie vol.2 Psychonavigation is delighted to present "SALICORNIE - Topofonie vol.2", the new album by Enrico Coniglio, the follow up to "AREAVIRUS - Topofonie vol.1" (n.d.r. Psychonavigation 2007) with a new collection of "sound tales" dedicated to Venice. "SALICORNIE" is an eclectic and multi-varied album, ambient first of all, and then classical, pop, dark and experimental... full of field recordings collected strictly in situ and enhanced, among others, by the collaboration of the trumpeter Arve Henriksen (Rune Grammofon, ECM) and the pianist Gigi Masin (Sub Rosa, Ants records). "SALICORNIE" is the sound of the Venice Carnival, crowds celebrating, as the lagoon and its slow and lonely flow of water join up. A polymorphic portrait of what Venice is today, one moment decadent and melancholy, then romantic, rowdy, colourful and chaotic. Postcard of a thousand postcards, photos of a thousand photos... Other musicians involved are Nigel Samways (drones, electronica) and Patrik Monticelli (cello). BUY HERE.

SEA CATHEDRALS A dark ambient album dedicated to the great heritage of the coastal industrial archeology of Porto Marghera, made of real "sea cathedrals" for the most in a state of abandon, as monuments of a civilization today towards the sunset. The textures of the whole album are built from field recordings made on site, then digitally manipulated and transformed into dark drones in constant motion. Metal squeals, crackles, deep noises widely reverberated are embellished with soft guitar and synthesizer pads, occasional backing vocals, rubbing of singing bowls, various kinds of bells and ethereal chimes of crystals. The work involves the Florentine guitarist Massimo Liverani and the Venetian musician Manuel Posadas Cecchinato, author, among other things, of the beautiful artwork. "Sea Cathedrals" is another chapter in the story of the Venice B side, which tells of the wanderings of a young loner stalker looking for his unresolved desires, on the background of a world in ruins. AREAVIRUS - topofonie vol.1 Enrico Coniglio - Psychonavigation Records 2007 (cd) The album is inspired by the ambience in Venice lagoon. You could say it sounds like a night trip on a mysterious boat, or a flight over a land in the balance between waters and grounds, as a unique landscape running the risk to be jeopardized by the contemporary urban and industry development… The kind of sounds in the work are rich, pieces never static but almost narrative, varied in drone and textures; arpeggio loops rarely sustained by some glitchy rhythmic patterns, sweet naive and distant melody made by saxes or a brilliant piano; dense and not ever conciliating atmospheres, but sensitive in the forms and absolutely inclined to melancholy. Musicians: Enrico Coniglio: guitars, synthesizers, loops, sampling & programming; Guido Marzorati: piano and keyboards; Nicola Alesini: popular clarinet; Piero Bittolo Bon: bass clarinet; Hans-Joachim Roedelius: piano; Massimo Liverani: air synth, loops; Arve Henriksen: trumpet. audiofiles THE VIRGIN AND THE PLAGUE Going with my binaural mics on the 21st November 2010 to the Basilica of St Mary of Health (in italian "Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute") at Punta della Dogana (Venice-Italy), during the typical feast-day. Thousands of people visit the main altar of the church to give thanks to the Virgin Mary and ask to keep them in good health. The church was built in 1631 after the Senate decided to honor the Virgin Mary of Health for delivering Venice from a plague. This is just a composition of raw recordings take with binaural microphones. From the minute 0 to 5:50 about I'm walking over the "Ponte votivo", a temporary bridge set up on barges over the Grand Canal, and then through narrow streets until to reach the church and enter in the middle of the hall. From the minute 5:50 to 8:50 about I'm walking slowly through the crowd towards the main altar and then behind, to sit on the "coro" stalls where people stop, pray and pass in front a Vergin Mary icon. From the minute 08:50 about, you can hear a serie of recordings of prayers and organ tunes. USE HEADPHONES for best result. Check it out at the number 072 of Crónicaster. Photo by Donato Gagliano. SONGS FROM RUINED DAYS The present release by the Touch label's SPIRE, is a long-drone track mostly based on recordings made in Porto Marghera, a big industrial coastal area on the mainland of Venice, Italy (Winter 2009), now largely on disposal and afflicted by a severe economic and environmental crisis. Part of this work was originally used for a sound work in the Antares pavilion of VEGA Park (VEnice GAteway for science and technology) for a photography exhibition as a part of the project "Le nuove vie di Porto Marghera". Other field recordings were made in Vienna, Austria (December 2009), in an attempt to explore the sacral spaces of the city. 'Song from ruined days' is a mix of industrial and liturgical soundscape, a brief journey in the space of a full desolation. All field recordings were made using Soundman Binaural stereo microphone head-set. Photos by Tommy Meduri. BUY HERE.

SAPIENTUMSUPERACQUIS As part of an ongoing series of recordings of unusual sounds of the Venice lagoon, these tracks were made on 29th April 2008 at 2100 in a night-depot of boats of the public transport service at Riva dei Schiavoni, not far from San Marco square. 'Sapientum super acquis' is the title attribuited to the Magistrato alle acque of the Serenissima Venetian Republic, an organ istituited on 1501 by the "Council of ten", that had the job of keeping safe the delicate natural/artificial balance of the lagoon, and looking after the "health" of the water. Today the water is mostly polluted because of Porto Marghera, one of the biggest industrial areas in the whole Europe. FREE DOWNLOAD HERE.

collaboration projects OUT AND ABOUT "Out and About" is a collaborative work, created as an attempt to bring together different talents and approaches, combining the experiences of musicians coming from different expertise areas. Electronic in the concept more than in the sound, strongly characterized by the warm colors of the acoustic piano of Elisa Marzorati and the viola of Gabriele Mancuso, juxtaposed by the various interventions of melodica, harmonica and treated guitar of Enrico Coniglio; all of it supported by dilated and suspended ochestral arrangements of Emanuele Errante, which underlie the whole album with harmonies prone to a sometimes poignant melancholy. An album that mixes different elements and moves, with ambiguity, between fiction and reality; characterized by calming atmospheres, but still shot through with dramatic elements that allude, in the intentions of the authors, to the wounds that man is causing to his wonderful planet.
